As part of the “EVERYTHING FLOWS · BE HERE STILL” collection, the Panther Chimera artwork honours the central brand pillar of duality. It combines contrasting influences to explore balance and the dualistic nature of the universe.
The collection name stems from the duality within the opposing beliefs of two Ancient Greek philosophers. One, Parmenides, believed our sense of change comes from a shift within ourselves, causing us to perceive the world differently, whereas the other, Heraclitus, took the view that the world flows around us in a constant state of change, and we must simply be still to experience it.
Panther Chimera expresses the balanced interaction of what can often initially seem like opposing forces. The designs symbolise the Taoist duality of the yin and yang, exploring how two polar opposites can simultaneously contradict and complement each other in a never-ending search for equilibrium. Each half chases after the other to form a new balance while connecting to the natural world.
Duality is also referenced through contrasting inspirations incorporated into singular designs. Styles made from vintage U.S. Army cloth and materials are reimagined with Eastern influences, including Tibetan-style wrap closures and Eastern-inspired silhouettes. Furthermore, signature brand colours of olive and black are compounded as contrasting panels on iterations of padded outerwear, merging the latest technical engineering with a reverence for nature thanks to eco-conscious or recycled materials.
Duality is a permanent exploration in every Maharishi collection. It represents the essence of the brand’s signature pacifist military design ethos.
The collection is available now online and in the London and New York stores.
