Maharishi’s Celeste artwork pays homage to the zodiac and emphasises the spiritual connection to the cosmos.
The design was initially inspired by Frederik de Wit’s Planisphere Cœleste, a 17th century map of the stars and constellations, from which the zodiac is drawn. The artwork delves into the historic importance of the zodiac, not only for navigation, but also for the spiritual influence of astrology and the connection between human beings and the cosmos. As well as the zodiac, it depicts six supplementary models of the solar system.
Maharishi has always shown a respect for the planets and their influence on the world. As well as celebrating the Lunar calendar each year, an homage to the influence of the moon and planets is reflected in Maharishi Celeste. The planets and zodiac signs are believed to influence human behavior through their unique energies and alignments. Each planet represents different aspects of life—such as communication, love, and personal growth—while the zodiac signs offer insight into personality traits and life paths. Astrologers suggest that by understanding these cosmic influences, we can gain deeper self-awareness and navigate life's challenges with greater wisdom. Respecting and revering the planets and zodiac invites a harmonious connection with the universe, allowing us to align with its natural rhythms and make more mindful choices in our daily lives.
Included in the product selection are track jackets and pants made from heavyweight, loose-fitting velvet, embroidered all over with the Celeste star map print. Also included are signature Original Snopants® and organic cotton T-shirts and sweats, as well as camp-collar shirts and cashmere scarves printed with the latest DPM : Bonsai Celeste – a continuation of Maharishi’s perennial exploration into the art of camouflage.
A precise reproduction of the map of the constellations, the Celeste artwork also formed the basis of the artwork for the forthcoming album TEMPORARY, by the creative collective ‘Everything is Recorded’. The first two singles, ‘Porcupine Tattoo’ by Noah Cyrus and Bill Callahan, and ‘Losing You’, which features Sampha, Laura Groves, Jah Wobble and Yazz Ahmed, are available to stream now, and the full record is available for order signups at maharishistore.com, with an official release date of February 28th.
